Registrar's Office: First Week of Classes for Fall 2025, Student Registration/Schedule Tip

Posted:

On Friday, August 22nd, a Student Announcement was posted to remind students of the following information:

Students are encouraged to check their schedule in Banner at least one week prior to the semester start. If they are waiting on a response from an instructor, attempt to contact the instructor now. If the instructor is not available, call the department office and ask if someone can assist them.

If a student is on a waitlist for a course, they should check the schedule to see if another section has seats available. It’s always a best practice to secure a seat in a course as soon as possible, and not to wait until the start of the semester.

Students are strongly encouraged to review their schedule BEFORE attempting to go to class to be sure there hasn't been a room change for a class. This is important to continue to do this for the first few weeks of the semester start.

Most of questions can be answered on the Registrar's Office Registration webpage.

Changes requiring instructor assistance should be completed no later than Friday, August 22nd. Registration ends Tuesday, September 2nd at 11:59 pm. If a student is attending a class that does not show on their Banner Student Detail Schedule, they must add the class as soon as possible but no later than Sept. 2nd. We strongly encourage all students to get their schedule settled as soon as possible so they are not missing classes.

If a student decides they don't want a course, it is their responsibility and very important to drop the course as soon as possible. Non-attendance does not equate to a drop. If a student no longer wants a class, they must drop the course no later than Sept. 2nd. Students are strongly encouraged to always go to their schedule in Banner and double-check that any action they submitted was successful. Failure to drop a registered course that a student does not attend will result in a final grade of E.

There are no drops after Sept. 2nd. Starting Sept. 3rd, to leave a class a student must withdraw online in Banner. Sept. 2nd is the last day to leave a class without financial penalty. Refund percentages are based on date of withdrawal and are available on the Student Accounts Refunds and Financial Liability webpage.

Contact the Registrar's Office via email at REGOFC@buffalostate.edu or call 716.878.4811 if you or a student needs additional information or assistance.
