Tutoring - Academic Center for Excellence

Posted:

The Academic Center for Excellence, a College Reading and Learning Associations International Tutor Training Program Certification (CRLA-ITTPC) certified Center in Regular, Advanced, and Master Levels, offers a variety of free and comprehensive academic support to our students in math, writing, and general subject:

Writing Support Services: E. H. Butler Library 143 | walk-ins welcome and appointments through Navigate360

Math Support Services: E. H. Butler Library 147 | walk-ins welcome

General Subject Support Services: E. H. Butler Library 145 | walk-ins welcome

All the above services will be available starting Tuesday, September 2. Based on need and subject tutored, virtual options may be available. Bookmark the website and check back regularly as the list of Academic Mentors (Tutors) and subject areas is updated frequently. Encourage students to visit the center in Butler Library 145 to get familiarized with our area and staff, and to complete an Academic Mentor Request Form if no Academic Mentor is listed for a particular course.

Thank you for your assistance in referring students to utilize these important support services, and for recommending qualified Academic Mentors to work in the Academic Center for Excellence! This past Academic Year, our peer and professional Academic Mentors provided Math, Writing, and General Subject support to students through close to 5,000 visits to the center, with many positive reviews and feedback from students who utilized the services across all three areas!

Please do not hesitate to reach out to Abdi Hajikandi, director of Academic Services, at hajikaa@buffalostate.edu if you have any questions or need to learn more about our services. We would also be happy to visit your classes to talk about our services and how they could benefit your students.
